Mission College is committed to empowering students through comprehensive academic support and well-being resources. I want to take this moment to strongly reaffirm Mission College’s unwavering commitment
to supporting all of our students including those who are undocumented, Dreamers,
LGBTQIA+ students, and everyone who enriches our diverse campus community. Our promise
as a California Community College extends well beyond providing a high-quality education; we remain steadfast in creating

It is especially crucial for our undocumented students to know that we stand firmly beside you. To that end, we have established resources and protections designed to support your academic aspirations. We also want to ensure that you are fully aware of California laws and district policies that safeguard your information, guide our employees, and maintain a secure campus environment for everyone. Below are some important resources and guidelines:
The district policy is that no college or district employee is legally required to comply with any U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) related activities, nor should they. There are no legal consequences for noncompliance. College employees should not share information directly with federal agencies. Any communication or coordination with federal agencies should go through the Chancellor’s Office. If a federal agent arrives on campus, please refer them to the Chancellor’s Office and the Police Department at (408) 299-3233.
All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center’s (ILRC) Red Cards can help you assert your rights and defend yourself if you are approached by an ICE agent:

California Dream Act Application lets students apply for state financial aid to attend
eligible California colleges, universities, or career education programs. It is not
connected to the federal DACA program. Apply by March 2 for the upcoming school year.

At Mission College, we are here for you, and you belong here! If there is a possible
ICE presence on or near campus, employees and students should not engage and should
follow the steps below to ensure safety, coordination, and the protection of student
and employee privacy.
Notify District Police or the President’s Office
In the event of a possible ICE sighting on or near campus, employees should notify
West Valley–Mission Community College District Police at (408) 299-3233 and/or the
Office of the President at (408) 855-5123.
Note: District Police are notified for safety and coordination purposes only and do
not assist with federal immigration enforcement, consistent with California law (SB
54 and AB 21).
Do not engage
All requests for information from ICE must be handled by designated campus leadership
in consultation with legal counsel.
- Do not attempt to verify ICE presence
- Do not answer questions or provide directions
- Do not interact with or assist ICE agents in any way
Protect Student and Employee Privacy
Do not share student or employee information under any circumstances with ICE agents.
All requests must be referred to the Office of the Chancellor at (408) 741-2421.

A WVM Alert may be issued, as appropriate, if federal immigration activity is confirmed
Healthier Kids Foundation offers guidance and resources to help young adults understand and access available health care options.
Red Cards are an educational resource that help undocumented students understand their constitutional rights. They provide clear, lawful guidance on how to respond calmly and appropriately during interactions with law enforcement or immigration officials. The goal is to ensure all students have access to accurate, nonpartisan information that promotes safety, awareness, and respect for the law.
Mission College provides training for campus employees on how to be an ally for undocumented students. These sessions cover legal rights, available resources, and best practices for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. By equipping our employees with the right knowledge, we aim to ensure that undocumented students feel safe, welcomed, and empowered to succeed.
