Placement and Assessment Services

Placement identifies the best course for you in English and Math. All Mission College students are placed and enrolled into  transferable English and Math courses which are best suited to your major.

At Mission College, your English placement considers:

• High school coursework and grades

At Mission College, your Math placement considers:

• The highest level of Math you have already completed in High School or college
• Your primary program of study at Mission College

If you have already earned credit for your required Math or English course through previous college coursework or standardized exam scores (AP, CLEP, etc.) Placement and Assessment Services can guide you with this as well.

After applying and receiving your Mission College student ID, access your Math and English placements by logging into My Mission Portal and selecting “My Math/English Placements.”

Complete your placement before registering for your transfer-level Math or English courses. Completion of this process satisfies one priority registration requirement.

• Watch ESL Guided Placement Video: Review a brief ESL Guided Placement video to help you get started. Videos are provided in many languages
• Complete ESL Guided Placement: If you're not signed into the student portal, you'll be prompted to do so. Complete the ESL Guided Placement and after doing so, you'll receive your results immediately and be cleared to register for the appropriate ESL class.
• Reguster for Classes: Sign up in the My Mission Portal.
