Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT)

The Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act (STAR) enables the California Community Colleges and California State University to collaborate on the creation of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degree programs for transfer. These AA-T and AS-T degrees allow students to complete an Associate’s degree and satisfy lower division general education and major requirements for transfer at the same time. It is strongly encouraged that students interested in pursuing an AA-T or AS-T meet with a counselor.

Students will need to:

- Complete the major requirements with a grade of C (or P) or better
- Complete a minimum of 60 CSU-transferable semester units with a grade point average of at least 2.0;
- Certify completion of either California State University General Education-Breadth (CSU GE-B) or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum for CSU (CSU IGETC). Biology AS-T majors should follow the CSU GE-B or IGETC CSU for STEM requirements.

Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

Six UC campuses—Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz—offer TAG programs that guarantee admission (and usually your major) to eligible California Community College students.

Basic TAG Requirements:

30 transferable units by the time of application
3.0 GPA minimum (may be higher depending on campus/major)
60 transferable units completed by end of spring for fall admission

TAG requirements vary by campus and major, so meet with a counselor early. More info is available on the UC TAG Matrix and campus websites.

How to Apply:

Submit through the UC Transfer Admission Planner
Choose only one UC campus for your TAG
Fall TAG: Apply Sept 1–30
Winter/Spring TAG (UC Merced & Riverside): Apply May 1–31

CSU Transfer Guarantee:
While CSU doesn’t offer TAG, students with Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADTs) receive priority admission and a guaranteed spot at one of the 23 CSU campuses.

Transfer to Private, Out-of-State and HBCU's

Mission College partners with a range of private and out-of-state-universities as well as Historically Black colleges and universities and to offer guaranteed transfer pathways, much like the UC TAG and CSU ADT programs. These agreements are designed to simplify the transfer process and provide early admission assurance. Smiling student who is transferring

Requirements typically include a GPA between 2.0 and 3.3, completion of 24 to 60 transferable units, and fulfillment of specific general education or major preparation coursework. Some agreements apply only to certain majors or terms (usually fall or spring), and a few require additional elements such as work experience, a resume, a personal statement, or standardized test scores especially for credential or professional programs.

While some schools require submitting a dedicated transfer agreement form, others automatically consider eligible students through the standard application process. Deadlines vary, but early submission is often encouraged due to rolling admissions. Many of these programs also offer financial incentives like guaranteed scholarships, special tuition rates, and priority advising.

These transfer guarantees provide students with a clear and structured path to earn their bachelor’s degree. By planning early and working closely with a counselor, students can take full advantage of these opportunities and stay on track to reach their academic goals.

ASSIST

ASSIST shows how courses from California Community Colleges transfer to UC and CSU campuses. It helps students plan coursework that fulfills major and general education requirements.

ASSIST

WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange)

WUE offers reduced tuition for eligible students attending participating public colleges in Western U.S. states. It makes out-of-state education more affordable.

Articulation Agreements

Articulation agreements outline which courses at Mission College meet the requirements at other colleges or universities. These agreements can cover major preparation, general education, or elective credits. Whether it’s course-to-course matches or lower-division major preparation, these agreements help you stay on track toward your goals.

Mission College works closely with the University of California (UC) system, the California State University (CSU) system, and other institutions to simplify the transfer process. These partnerships ensure that you have a clear path to meet your educational goals.
